It was half term, so instead of attending the Foundation Years Trust's groups at the local Beechwood Community Centre, 10 mums and their children, aged from 8 months to 10 years (as well as 5 Foundation Years Trust staff) gathered in the community room in the park's Visitors Centre ready to explore the park.
First stop was the lake, where we fed the ducks and swans before visiting the Swiss bridge, the boathouse and then, of course, the playground. En route we collected leaves, pine cones and feathers, jumped in puddles and counted the squirrels. Back at the community room we enjoyed a buffet lunch and celebrated Anaya's first birthday. Then it was time for colouring, collage making and singing to finish. The best bit? "Feed the ducks" "Thanks for a lovely day".
